Chandrababu Naidu never tires talking about transparency and clean politics.
As recently as a few days ago, he waxed eloquent on political transparency and how TDP lives by it. But, quite strangely even 24 hours after his party’s key MLA is arrested on trying to buy out an MLA to win MLC elections in Telangana, Chandrababu has been maintaining a stunning silence on the issue.
This becomes doubly significant as TDP MLA Revanth Reddy had repeatedly said he was authorized by Chandrababu Naidu himself for horse-trading. He also assured the Anglo Indian MLA that he would arrange for a meet with the ‘Boss’ (Chandrababu Naidu).
Chandrababu is not available for the media nor has he commented on the arrest. The bravado of the party MLAs evaporated once the video footage was out. The party leaders were at loss to explain the events.
Revanth’s arrest had its effect on the AP Cabinet meet on Monday. The meeting was unusually longer, but none of the ministers gathered courage to broach the issue. The Cabinet has not taken up even key issues like liquor sales.
This incident has proved to be a huge blow for the party and Chandrababu as the video tape could nail Chandrababu Naidu too. Already YSRCP spokesperson Ambati Rambabu has gone on record demanding that action be initiated against Chandrababu as Revanth was a mere pawn and that Chandrababu is the real culprit. Congress leader Vundavalli Arun Kumar too felt that the evidence would be a big blow for Chandrababu Naidu.
