Mahabubnagar: Of the 114 persons with symptoms of swine flu during the last four years in Mahabubnagar district 21 cases have been confirmed. In view of the fears that their number could be more the Health department has taken up a public awareness campaign on the fast spreading viral fever.  It has opened a special ward in the government hospital here and launched tests to ascertain cases.

Residents of the town are in the grip of fear after five cases were confirmed in the family of Venkateshwarlu of Motinagar. He was afflicted with viral fever after visiting several places. The fever spread to his four family members. Following the swine flu scare, school students are sporting masks to save themselves from getting affected. They are seen with masks even while travelling in autos, buses, singing and playing.
