The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has made changes to the jurisdiction of the Regional Passport Office located in Hyderabad. As many as 8 AP Districts (Krishna, Guntur, Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore and Prakasam) which were under the jurisdiction of Hyderabad's RPO until now have been transferred to the Visakhapatnam passport office jurisdiction.

Visahapatnam Passport Office which began operational in 1997 used to cover East Godavari, West Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Vizainagaram and Srikakulam untill now. With the latest move by Ministry of External Affairs, All the remaining districts of AP to have fallen in the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam's Regional Passport Office.

Where as, the 10 districts of Telangana in the jurisdiction of Hyderabad's Regional Passport Office. In the year 2014, Hyderabad's Regional Passport Office issued highest number of passpports in the country. 6,97,156 passports have been cleared out of 7,17,769 total applications.
