Government is expected to launch major media blitzkrieg during the planned events.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to make an address during the functions, advertisements on print and electronic media and social media strategy is also being worked out.
An elaborate media plan has been prepared by relevant ministries to project 31 October (Sardar Patel’s birthday) as “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day” and children’s cleanliness week from November 14 (Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary) to November 19 when the nation will celebrate the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address students and citizens of the country on October 31. The address is expected to be televised live through national broadcaster and elaborate advertisement campaign has also been planned to mark the event and the activities that are to follow it.
The entire plan would require the involvement of MHA, HRD, WCD and I&B ministries which are expected to finalise the final media proposal soon, sources said.
Apart from advertising in broadcast and print media the government is also expected to utilise the social media space by trying to trend awareness creation.
Sources said that the UGC has, in a letter to vice-chancellors of all Central, state, private and deemed universities, asked them to organise events on October 31 to celebrate Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary. “As a mark of honour you are requested to organise different events on October 31 on the campus,” the letter said.
