On Monday, the Andhra Pradesh assembly grieved the death of the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. Expressing condolence over Lee's death and conveying sympathies to his family, the house observed two minutes' silence.

Lee Kuan Yew breathed his last on Monday after a prolonged battle with pneumonia.

Paying rich tributes to Lee Kuan Yew, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described him as a visionary and said that he built Singapore into a modern and prosperous nation after it suffered massive damage during Second World War and separation from Malaysia.

To develop Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said he always tried to forge closer ties with countries like Singapore. The AP CM also added that Singapore came forward to prepare the master plan for Andhra Pradesh's new state capital without asking for a single penny.
