AP takes Krishna water by force,Telangana and Andhra Pradesh water war,Venkateswara Rao,Telangana employee at Nagarjuna Sagar dam,Krishna Water

It has been more than six months since Andhra Pradesh state got bifurcated into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh but still the two states are at logger heads over distribution of water. Two days back, Andhra Pradesh Asst. Engineer Venkateswara Rao had snatched keys from a Telangana employee at Nagarjuna Sagar dam and released water by opening the gates. Telangana employees have protested against the incident and this resulted in tense situation near the dam.

Telangana government claimed that Andhra Pradesh state has received its share of water from Nagarjuna Sagar and said it will not release any more water, but Andhra Pradesh government argued that it still needs to receive 101 TMCs of water.

Employees belonging to Telangana have questioned the officials of the division head office on why no complaint has been registered against Venkateswara Rao who forcibly took the keys and released water. This made the authorities to close the gates leading to the dam on both sides and have not allowed anyone near the dam site.
