Announcing elections to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), State Election Commissioner P.N. Srinivasachari said that the election will be held on July 28. The day will be declared a holiday to ensure more people come out to vote.
With the declaration of the poll date, the code of conduct has been put in place with immediate effect, said Mr. Srinivasachari.
The election notification will be issued by the BBMP Commissioner, G. Kumar Naik on July 8. Rs. five lakh has been fixed as election expenditure per candidate. NOTA (none of the above) option will not be available for the election.
Citizens can still enrol their names in the voters' list till July 15. 6,733 polling stations will be set-up in 198 wards (one polling station per 1,500 people). Three helplines will also be set up for receiving complaints-08022374740, 08022224748, 08022221188.
The poll results will likely be announced on July 31. Polls on ward reservation list will be prepared in April.
