Chandrababu asks Rajnath to Set Up Task Force on AP Reorganisation Act

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been charging the Telangana government with violating the AP Reorganisation Act-2014 on every issue concerning both the states, on Friday requested Union home minister Rajnath Singh to set up a ‘task force’ to oversee the implementation of the Act.

During his visit to Delhi on Friday, Naidu called on Rajnath Singh and is understood to have complained about the TS government over contentious issues such as sharing of river waters, power, office space, PSUs and conduct of Intermediate exams.

According to sources, alleging that the TS government is flouting the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, Naidu urged the Union Home Minister to prevail upon the TS government to respect the Act.

Interestingly, Naidu recently appointed a seven-member task force, comprising TDP and BJP MPs from AP and Telangana, to bring to the notice of the Prime Minister the issues concerning the two Telugu states and seek Centre’s intervention to resolve the contentious issues.

Naidu spent the whole Friday knocking on the doors of various key ministers to extract more funds and projects to the reorganised state.

Naidu requested finance minister Arun Jaitely to ensure special category status is accorded to the truncated state.

Naidu also met Union water resources minister Uma Bharati, commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman, railway minister Suresh Prabhu and transport minister Nitin Gadkari separately.

Naidu also called on BJP president Amit Shah and held confabulations with him for a while.
