Chandrababu Naidu,green revolution
Kurnool: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said that he had taken up Jala Deeksha to provide enough water to farming community by ensuring all pending irrigation projects are completed without compromising on quality. Inspecting the Banakacharla cross regulator, Galeru-Nagari and Gorukallu reservoirs in Kurnool district as part of his two-day visit, the Chief Minister warned the irrigation engineers of stern action if they fail to complete the irrigation projects within the stipulated time.
He also warned the contractors to complete the pending projects without delay and without compromising on quality. Mr Naidu said that he would not tolerate delays as this would escalate the cost and put extra burden on the government and farmers. Interacting with farmers at Gorukallu, the Chief Minister said that the government was committed to provide adequate quantity of water for irrigating in the next 4 to 5 years. To achieve this, money would not be a constraint, Mr Naidu made it clear.
“My government has taken up the Pattiseema project so that the par-ched and drought-hit Rayalaseema region gets water for irrigation, besides irrigating West Godavari and Krishna delta,” he said, slamming Opposition leaders for politicising his Jal Deeksha without properly understanding its objective.
The Chief Minister said that from now onwards, he would conduct a review meeting and ensure contractors’ bills are cleared every 15 days. Mr Naidu also directed Kurnool collector Vijaya Mohan to send a detailed report on the proposal of barrage at Siddeswaram under Srisailam reservoir. He also stressed the importance of linking Godavari-Krishna and Penna rivers.
Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy, Ir-rigation minister Devi-neni Umamaheswara Rao MP S.P.Y. Reddy and MLAs from the district were present. Earlier, Mr Naidu undertook an aerial survey from Srisailam reservoir to Pottireddypadu.
