Uttar Pradesh Congress today attacked the Centre for its "conspiracy" to frame former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and "snooping" on Rahul Gandhi and took out a march in the state capital here.
In an emergency meeting, the working committee of the UP Congress passed a resolution condemning "conspiracy" to frame Manmohan Singh "having an honest image by serving him a legal notice and thereby trying to defame and vitiate the image of Congress party".
In another resolution, the party said that "snooping" on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's house amounted to infringement of his fundamental rights and called for putting a stop on such actions on opposition leaders.
"This is an attempt to weaken the opposition", the resolution said.
"Though (some people) managed to establish police raj in a small state like Gujarat but Congress will not allow the designs of Prime Minister to succeed in the country and counter it with force", the resolution said.
Another resolution was passed demanding proper compensation to farmers who have suffered losses due to untimely rains and hailstorm in the state.
Later, the Congress took out a march on these issues from the party headquarters to the GPO park where UPCC president Nirmal Khatri said that his party would give a befitting reply if such attempts continued in future by taking to the streets.
