Dattatreya seeks 370 crore for Tourism in Telangana

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya met his Tourism counterpart, Dr Mahesh Sharma, here on Wednesday and sought funds of Rs 370 crore for development of tourism projects in the Telangana State as proposed by the government. A press release from the Minister's office said the Tourism Minister had positively responded to the proposals and assured of help.

It may be recalled that the Government of Telangana had recently submitted a detailed project reports on its four proposals to the Centre with a proposed estimate for Rs 370 crore. The first one which falls under Swadesh Darshan Scheme of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is about development of eco tourism circuit covering places like Somasila, Akkamahadevi Caves, Uma Maheswaram Temple, Munnanur and Srisailam. This proposal is for Rs 127.26 crore.

Development of a tribal circuit tourism aimed at integrated development of Mulugu, Eturunagaram and Medaram at a cost of Rs 96.62 crore, developing Warangal as a Heritage City under Prasad Scheme covering places like Kolanupaka, Jangaon, Palkurthi, Bammera, Ghanpur, Mettu Gutta, Eka Veera, Inavolu, Bhadrakali Hill, Padmakshi and Palampet Temple, at a cost of Rs 61.62 crore and development of tourism by improving infrastructure at Qutub Shahi Tombs at a cost of Rs 85 crore are the other three proposals in the report.
