Vijayawada: Vijayawada is likely to get a double-decker train soon. The railway authorities operated a special double-decker train from Kacheguda to Vijayawada on Monday to meet the rush of passengers. There is a demand for a double-decker train between Vijayawada and Hyderabad.

If the train gets good patronage, the railway authorities are likely to introduce double-decker trains between Vijayawada and Hyderabad soon. As thousands of employees including software professionals travel between Hyderabad and Vijayawada during weekends, the demand for double-decker train in increasing.

software professional, P Satosh, opined that if the railway authorities operate the special service from Hyderabad on Friday evening or night it would be more useful for the employees reaching Vijayawada on weekends. He said that the authorities should run a special train in the return direction from Vijayawada to Hyderabad on Sunday night for the convenience of employees.

Another passenger K Venugopal said that the railway authorities should introduce the double-decker trains between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam as the existing Ratnachal intercity express is getting overcrowded. He said it is difficult to find a vacant seat in the train and people are forced to travel by standing.

He said in the absence of RTC services, passengers are facing problems with the exorbitant fare being collected by the private travels. If the railway authorities operate special services from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore and Chennai during weekends it would be more helpful for the passengers.
