Flyover at Kanakadurga Temple in New Year,Flyover at Kanakadurga Temple in vijayawada
Minister for Irrigation Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the works on the flyover at Kanakadurga temple would begin shortly.
Speaking to media persons at the temple after releasing its calendar, the Minister said that the State government had forwarded the flyover proposal along with the design to the Central government for clearance. The State government was pursuing the issue and expressed confidence that the work would begin in New Year.
The 2.7-km long flyover is initially estimated to cost Rs 180 crore and would solve traffic problems. The flyover would provide free movement of the devotees and the vehicles heading to the Kanakadurga temple atop Indrakeeladri Hill.
The flyover at the temple had been a long-pending demand of the people here. The narrow road stretch between Kummaripalem to Prakasam Barrage has been causing severe unconvince to the vehicular movement on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway. The Telugu Desam Party had fought for the flyover during the Congress regime and Chandrababu Naidu participated in one of the dharnas held in the city on the issue.
The TDP had made the flyover as an election promise. After the elections, MP Kesineni Srinivas took up the issue with the State and the Central governments. He had series of meetings with officials of the National Highways Authority of India to speed up the process.
