Four persons of a family including a one-year-old baby died in a road accident in the Nallacheruvu mandal of Anantapur District, at half past midnight on Wednesday. At around 12:30 a.m., a Tata Indica car, in which six from Siriguppa village of Bellary district were travelling met with an accident when the car hit, head on, a tree at a high speed near Devireddypalli village.

The child - Sai Meghana (1) - and her uncle Chandramouli (45) died on the spot while four others were soon taken out of the vehicle by local villagers and shifted to Kadiri Government Hospital.

On way to the hospital, the driver Gundappa (42) of the vehicle who is also father of the deceased child, succumbed to injuries.

Another woman Gayatri (35) succumbed to injuries even as she was being treated at a hospital in Anantapur. She was shifted to the hospital along with two other injured persons Uma Maheswari (38) and Sai Medha (1).

The injured child is learnt to be stable while the condition of the other is said to be critical. Meanwhile, the Nallacheruvu police informed The Hindu that the vehicle was travelling from Tirupati to Siriguppa of the Bellary district.
