The State Government is keen on creating IT Investment Region in Visakhapatnam, Anantapur and Tirupati, Minister for IT Palle Raghunath Reddy has said. Speaking at the inaugural of the first Bootcamp for startup entrepreneurs at the Sunrise Startup Village here on Thursday, the Minister said that the State Government was looking at creating 9 lakh jobs by year 2020.
The credit for formulating India’s first startup and innovation policy goes to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said.
The State aims to have 5,000 startups by year 2020 and through that create more employment opportunities, IT Advisor to State Government J. Satyanarayana said. A State innovation fund with a corpus of Rs. 100 crore was created to encourage startups, he added. Memorandum of Understaning was signed with six startup ventures on the occasion.
Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivas Rao, Visakhapatnam MP and State BJP president K. Haribabu and Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao (Avanti), among others were present.
