Hyderabad: The long wait of thousands of journalists in Telangana state for a Health insurance policy is set to end soon. The Telangana government has decided to issue health cards to journalists very soon. A related GO is expected in the next few days.
It may be mentioned here that Telangana journalists gave a two-day protest call, which was withdrawn last night after assurance from Minister K Tarakarama Rao that he would look into the matter.
Accordingly, KTR convened a meeting, which was also attended by I & PR Commissioner BP Acharya, Principal Secretary (Health) Suresh Chanda, Principal Secretary (Revenue) Ajay Mishra besides Government Advisor KV Ramanachary and Press Academy Chairman Allam Narayana.
Kranthi Kiran, Palle Ravi, Ramana, Ramesh Hazaari attended the meeting on behalf of journalists’ fraternity. KTR directed the top officials to set into motion the formalities required for issuing ‘cashless’ health cards to nearly 12,000 journalists in ten districts.
