A 28-year-old beautician was throttled to death allegedly by her husband over her failure to get more dowry from her parents.

The incident happened in Misriganj in Kalapather police limits on Monday night. The deceased, Shabana Begum, was throttle to death by her husband Md Ali alias Azam after they had an argument over more dowry. According to police, Shabana was a divorcee and had two sons and one daughter from her first husband. She got married to Md Ali, an employee of China Bazar, about seven months ago. However, Ali started harassing her more dowry and also started suspecting her fidelity. A few months ago, Shabana's parents gave him Rs 17,000. But he started harassing her again demanding more money.

Following an argument on the same issue on Monday night, Ali allegedly strangulated Shabana to death.

The Kalapather police have registered a case under Section 302, 304B and other relevant sections of IPC and began investigations.
