The elections for Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association have brought unrest in the AP TDP and opened up can of worms between two MPs who are close to CM Chandrababu Naidu. Guntur MP, industrialist and Mahesh Babu's brother-in-law Galla Jayadev and TDP's Rajyasabha MP CM Ramesh are crossing swords against one another to bag the top post.
It all started when Galla Jayadev and few of his supporters claimed that the elections have become unanimous and stated that Galla Jayadev was elected as the President of Andhra Pradesh Olympics Association and former Minister KE Prabhakar as the Chairman. Naturally, this don't go well with CM Ramesh who is eyeing the post.
CM Ramesh came out in open and stated that he is in race and will be contesting for the president post adding that elections are not over. Ramesh went on to state that he consulted with CM Chandrababu Naidu and claimed that Naidu's support is with him. Ramesh said that only the associations which are recognized by the Indian Olympic Association have authority to elect the president of the state Olympic Association and hence stated that Jayadev's election is disqualified.
With this sudden jolt, Galla Jayadev and his supporters are in doldrums. Even many of althletes and sports persons of AP are disappointed with the political unrest in the Olympics Association. Former Vijayawada MP Rajagopal who was the outgoing president of the association stated that he'd continue in the post until the issue is resolved and new president has taken over the reigns. The elections for Olympics Association will have a four-year term and election is held for President, Chairman, vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, joint secretaries, associate joint secretaries and 15 executive members.
