Telangaana government released a GO appointing Chief minister KCR as chairman for Telangana’s prestigious water grid project. KCR son and state IT minister KTR appointed as vice chairman for the water grid.Along with KCR and KTR govt also appointed ten more people in the committee.
The state government constituted the Telangana Drinking Water Supply Corporation (TDWSC) with experts in the field as directors and it aimed at supplying safe water to all the districts in the state. The Telangana drinking water project will supply drinking water to gram panchayats, urban municipalities and also to industries by linking up a number of water resources on Godavari and Krishna basins.
The government decided to spend about Rs 317 cr to conduct helicopter survey for the ambitious program of Telangana Water Grid. TRS Government will call tenders in two months and set up 24 water grids across the State.
It is estimated that about Rs 27,000 cr will be required for the project to cater to the needs of people in villages, municipalities and cities and industries. KCR said the drinking water grid was top priority to the State government as it was aimed at providing piped drinking water to every household.
