Hyderabad: Notwithstanding stiff opposition from rival parties and different groups regarding shifting of present Secretariat to Erragadda on ‘vaasthu’ reasons, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday issued a GO to remove the park and laying road leading to Samatha Block housing CM’s office.
- To widen road for smooth movement of convoy at Secretariat
- Temple shadow said to be falling on his vehicle
It is to make the CM’s convoy does not cross the Pochamma temple before reaching CM’s office. It is being said that it is not proper for the convoy to pass in front of the temple as per vaasthu. Administrative sanction of Rs 9.8 lakh has also been accorded by the General Administrative Department. This amount would be used for widening the road by removing the part of the lawn between the temple and D Block.
However, some party leaders say that it is not vaasthu which is the reason for removing the park and laying the new road. They claim this decision was taken in view of security issues. As per present route, the convoy needs to move in a zig-zag manner on the road (behind the temple) in front of A and B blocks to reach Samatha Block.
KCR was not too happy with several turnings en route and hence directed the officials to alter the convoy route by constructing a straight road. He made this suggestion nearly four months ago but there was no progress thus far. But the timing of the decision has come as a weapon to the Opposition parties which say that the Chief Minister was wasting public money on trivial issues.
TDP leaders like M Narsimhulu and Congress leader Mohd Shabbir Ali have said that when CM wanted to shift the Secretariat in a year’s time where is the need for destroying the green cover. They also failed to understand what security issues were involved in the decision. Interestingly, some ministers are also giving a facelift to suit vaasthu specifications. Even the newly appointed Parliament secretaries are revamping their chambers.
