Mining Centre to Come Up in Krishna or Vizag Dist

Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, will have its regional centre in either Krishna district or Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. A team of experts from ISM  visited six different locations in Krishna district on Wednesday and will be visiting a few more locations at Machilipatnam on Thursday.

Speaking to mediapersons after meeting with the team members at replica watches for men his camp office here Wednesday, collector Babu A said ISM would be setting up its first regional centre in Andhra Pradesh and was scouting for the location.

“They visited Visakhapatnam on Tuesday and on Wednesday they visited six different locations in the district. They will be visiting Machilipatnam,” he said. After concluding their visit in the district, the team will meet chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, before leaving for Dhanbad.

According to him, ISM is looking to set up not just a regional centre, but also a satellite centre that is close to the coast so it can take up  research activities on different geological aspects. “Our institute in the state will start with R&D activity initially and gradually take up academic activity,” MK Singh, ISM registrar, said.  He said they were looking for 400-500 acre land.

A S Venkatesh, chairman of ISM AP regional centre, who is leading a team of professors visiting the best breitling replica watches state, said once their visit concludes they will discuss it in the board meeting, which will take the final call on the location in either Krishna or Visakhapatnam districts. The team looked impressed by their visit to Krishna district on the first day.

Earlier in the day, accompanied by joint collector Gandham Chandrudu, the team which also had ISM professors NR Mandra and AK Misra, visited forest lands at Trilochanapuram in Ibrahimpatnam mandal near Kondapalli, Velvadam in Mylavaram mandal, Sunkollu in Nuzvid mandal, Katrenupadu in Musunuru mandal and Malavalli in Bapulapadu mandal.

The joint collector said 400 acre in Tirlocahnapuram is just 26 km from Vijayawada and 4 km from national highway and also close to NTPC. Water and power are amply available at the site.
