Nizamabad MP K Kavitha questioned the BJP as to why it was keeping mum on the controversial issues like Article 370 and Armed Force Special Powers Act (AFSPA) which it had said to resolve prior to elections in the state.
The TRS MP had earlier too voiced her concern on Kashmiri Pandits, who were willing to return to their homeland. On other occasion, she drew flak for her opinion that Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir were not part of India.
She was speaking at a programme organised by the Hyderabad chapter of the Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre on Friday. The programme was organised to commemorate the February 22, 1994 resolution of the Indian Parliament which asserted that Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of the Indian Union.
She said it was not right for the BJP and the Narendra Modi government to ally with a political party that espoused the cause of ‘self-rule’ for the people of Jammu and Kashmir - which is in violation of the said resolution.
“Why is BJP quiet on the issues which it had raised before the elections? It is not good for the BJP to go back on its promises just to have one more state in its kitty,” she remarked.
The TRS MP asked the Union government as how would it relocate Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland without bringing about normalcy in the state. “BJP has wonderful opportunity, with enough numbers in the Parliament, to bring harmony in the state. It should not fall for the bait to capture power,” she suggested.
Stating that the time has arrived for initiating bold steps on Kashmir issue, she said that the TRS would extend full support to Kashmiris.
The successive governments had taken ‘trouble shooting’ measures only at the ‘last minute’ than building a concrete plan to resolve the crisis in the state.
“From international issue, Kashmir has become a bilateral issue between India and Pakistan, today. This is the ideal situation to resolve the issue,” she opined.
