Rajaiah meets Chief Minister KCR at Camp Office
More than a week after his sacking from the Cabinet, former deputy chief minister T Rajaiah called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the latter’s camp office on Monday. Rao, according to sources, told Rajaiah that his behaviour had landed him in the present situation.
This was the first time that Rajaiah met Rao after he was sacked from the Cabinet. Rajaiah’s meeting with Rao assumed importance, as the TRS extended committee meeting is scheduled on Tuesday on the city outskirts. This apart, the meeting holds importance as there are rumours that Rajaiah may defect to the TDP following his ouster from the Cabinet without seeking his explanation over graft charges.
Rajaiah went to the CM camp office in the evening but had to reportedly wait for a long time to meet KCR. Finally, Rao along with industries minister J Krishna Rao came out and Rajaiah had an opportunity to speak to him. Though Rajaiah tried to explain his stand over some of the issues that led to his exit from the Cabinet, the CM, who was in a hurry to attend a meeting, cut short the former minister.
‘’Your behaviour has landed you in this situation. You failed to keep up to your position (as Dy CM),’’ Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly told Rajaiah. Rajaiah told Rao that he considers him (Rao) more than his father and that he would abide by whatever decision he takes.
Asking Rajaiah to come to Tuesday’s meeting, Rao said the meeting was an important one and some important decisions would be announced, sources said.
Rajaiah later said KCR took the step (sacking him) only to ensure transparency in governance.
Rajaiah also said he could not meet Rao earlier as he was out of station. ‘’Rao gave me the post (deputy CM) even before I asked him. I will work as a loyal activist of the party,’’ he said.
The former minister also said Rao had personally invited him and leaders from his constituency to the party’s meeting scheduled to be held at Kompally on Tuesday. ‘’I will attend the meeting,’’ Rajaiah added.
