Relatives fight over Chakri property,Chakri properties,Chakri death

HYDERABAD: In less than a month after the sudden death of Tollywood music director Chakradhar alias Chakri, a bitter feud erupted over his assets with his widow, G Sravani, approaching police on Saturday. She alleged that there was a threat to her life from her in-laws and sought protection. Sravani also raised doubts over Chakri's death.

In her complaint to the Jubilee Hills police, Sravani alleged that a day before Chakri's death (December 15) the music director had returned home late in the night and appeared to be under stress. In her complaint, she said that her husband confided to her that his mother G Vidyavathi and relatives __G Madhava Rao, Vani Devi, K Lakshman Rao, Krishna Priya, Nageshwar Rao, K Adarshini, Gali Giri and Gali Prathyyusha __were pressuring him to transfer his property in the name of his mother and brother Madhava Rao alias Mahit, an upcoming music director. She claimed that veteran actor and former Union minister Dasari Narayana Rao had tried in vain to settle the property dispute amicably between the two warring parties.

According to Sravani, Chakri owned a flat in Somajiguda, registered in his name, besides two plots in Shamshabad, both registered in her name. He also had bank lockers, financial bonds and bank accounts for which no nominee was declared. She alleged that she was not even being allowed to apply for her husband's death certificate.

"I requested police to give me protection and take action against the people who are harassing me for property. They have been ill-treating and humiliating me from the time my husband died,'' she said.

The music director's widow said that she took the issue to the notice of assistant commissioner of police (Banjara Hills) D Uday Kumar Reddy, who requested her to wait for two days. He promised to call her family members to discuss the issue.

"At the behest of my in-laws, a former MLA, Lakshminarayana, tried to influence the police officer. However, the ACP registered a case based on my complaint,'' Sravani said.

Chakri had married Sravani nearly 10 years ago after he divorced his first wife. Sravani defied her parents and married Chakri and they started staying at an apartment complex at Journalist Colony, Jubilee Hills.

Till November 27, 2014 Chakri's mother, brother and sister Krishna Priya along with her husband and children were staying with the couple. On November 27, Chakri's mother picked up an argument with her son and daughter-in-law and left the residence in a huff, police said.

Chakri's family hails from Mahabubabad in Warangal district and his father, Gilla Venkata Narayana, was associated with the Telugu film industry too and acted in films like 'Veedu Teda', 'Ranga The Donga', 'Devaraya' and 'Gopi Gopika Godavari'. Venkata Narayana, who also sang a couple of numbers, died in 2012.

The Jubilee Hills police on Saturday booked a case under sections 498 (domestic violence), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Chakri's mother G Vidyavathi and eight others.
