South Central Railway’s first Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model mechanised laundry was inaugurated on Sunday by South Central Railway General Manager P.K. Srivastava.

Established at Kacheguda Railway Station by Supreme Laundry Services Joint Venture Private Limited, which bagged the contract, the 12-tonne mechanised laundry has the capacity to wash 24,000 bed sheets, 12,000 face towels and 12,000 pillow covers per day. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr. Srivastaa said that the laundry was established with the aim of improving the quality of linen supplied to the passengers since bed linen was one of the areas, which attracted grievances from the passengers.

The Mechanised Laundry is the first successful project under BOOT model and will certainly encourage other such collaborations on Indian Railways, thereby offering scope to render the best possible service to the rail passengers.
