There are loud whispers that initially it was Shraddha Kapoor who was being considered for the Shahid Kapoor-starrer Udta Punjab. Apparently, the actress who shared the screen with Shahid in Haider, was keen for an encore. But, unfortunately, for her, things didn’t quite fall in place.

A close source says, “Shraddha was in for a shock when she came to know that a formal announcement had her rival Alia Bhatt’s name as the film’s leading lady. Unhappy with this, Shraddha had even spoken and expressed her angst to Shahid about being dropped in the eleventh hour.

Shraddha and Alia don’t really see eye to eye in the industry and that’s very much out in the open. And now with Shahid’s career having taken off once again, it’s hardly a surprise that the rivalry between the two has only intensified.
