AP Government wants to do repairs for Rail-cum-Road Bridge in Rajahmundry for Godavari Pushkarams in this year. The 12 year Godavari Pushkarams will start from July 14th to 25th. Chief Minister CBN has discussed on Rail-cum-Road Bridge with officials during the review meeting on Pushkarams.

 He ordered to complete the repairs on bridge by the commencement of Godavari festival. This is one of the busiest railway lanes that connect Southern Zone to East Coast Zone. R&B engineers want to stop the trains through Rail-cum-Road Bridge in Rajahmundry minimum 7 hours daily.

Railway authorities expressed their concerns and problems on stopping of trains on this bridge. Time Schedules for all trains will be revised if SCR decided to stop the trains through this bridge for 7 hours. R&B authorities decided to contact with Chennai IIT officials to analyze the repairs for this bridge. 2.74 Kms long Railway Bridge was constructed in 1974 in Rajahmundry. There are 465 joints (patches) on the bridge.

These joints affected by travelling heavy vehicles on this Bridge. Government did repairs thrice for this bridge since last 20 years. Now it is the question whether the repairs will complete or not at the time of Godavari Festival.
