After successfully breaking away from Andhra Pradesh with regards to Intermediate examinations, the TS government is now making serious efforts to conduct a separate entrance examination for admissions to engineering and medical courses by doing away with the common EAMCET.
Telangana Minister for Higher Education G.Jagadeesh Reddy confirmed that preparations are on to hold a separate EAMCET exam as per Section 75 of the AP State Reorganisation Act.
Reddy also revealed that officials from the departments of education and law were looking into legal and administrative issues for conducting a separate EAMCET for Telangana students.
The minister also said that the government was considering to do away with the 25% weightage being given to the Inter marks during admissions to the professional courses.
Further, it will be done without impacting the 15% common admissions, he said.
This move will surly put spanner in the efforts on the AP government, which is striving hard to at least have a common EAMCET in both the Telugu-speaking states.
