Hyderabad: In wake of High Court directions, the Telangana government is understood to be mulling to cancel Parliament Secretaries appointment. Although speculations did rounds that TRS administration would be appealing the verdict in higher court, no such move took place for the last three weeks since the judgement was pronouned on May 1.
It is learnt that legal experts advised the government against the move, since its decision was found to violate provisions of the constitution. It may be mentioned here that a division bench, in its interim order, stayed Government Order-173, appointing six legislators, Jalagam Venkat Rao, V Srinivas Goud, Gadhari Kishore, V Satish, D Vinay Bhaskar and Kova Lakshmi of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as the Parliamentary Secretaries
The bench of Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar passed the orders on petitions filed by Congress MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Telugu Desam Party's legislator A Revanth Reddy, challenging the appointments. The petitioners argued that the posts were created by the government to provide benefits like rank of Minister of state, bungalows, cars and other perks to the ruling party leaders through the public exchequer.
