Will AP Govt declare 43 per cent PRC to State Government Employees?
The Andhra Pradesh government is under pressure following Telangana government’s announcement of 43 per cent PRC to employees. AP government employees have started pressuring it to also announce 43 per cent PRC on the lines of the Telangana government.
APNGO leaders met AP finance minister and the chairman of Cabinet sub-committee on PRC on Friday and asked for 43 per cent fitment for AP employees. The government is in a fix on deciding the PRC as it is facing a financial crisis.
Sources said the AP government is not in a position to give 43 per cent PRC. It is likely to decide between 31 per cent to 35 per cent. If the AP government also decides to give 43 per cent PRC, the additional finance burden will be Rs 9,825.17 crore
The PRC committee has suggested 29 per cent fitment, which will mean an additional burden of around Rs 5,141.61 crore per year. Currently, the AP government is paying Rs 2,500 crore every month towards employees’ salaries and pensions to retired employees. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told employees that the government will give a “good” PRC, given the financial constraints.
