'Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe' not intended to give message

17th August, 2014 10:20am     Kollywood      Comments
After her debut film Aarohanam, director Lakshmy Ramakrishnan is now wrapping up the shoot of her next film Nerungi Vaa Muthamidathe. Though the film is a drama, Lakshmy prefers to call it as an action drama "because there is action in the script." Given that her debut film won critical acclaim, the director says she didn't want to be branded as a filmmaker who only does films like Aarohanam, i.e., films with a message, and that was why she decided to make this film as her follow-up.

"I wanted to see if I could pull off a commercial entertainer. The film is not intended to be a message movie but if there is a message you find in it, I can't help it," she laughs.

Talking about the cast, Sruthi Hariharan and Piaa Bajpai, she says, they play two sides of the same coin — one is a city girl while the other is a village girl, the first one to be educated in her family. "We are also introducing Shabeer, who is the male lead. He's not the usual action hero, but someone who is closer to real-life heroes who we come across in our life; they have both good and bad in them, conflicted from within, but when the situation demands, they rise up to the occasion and do unexpected things. He is based on a real-life hero who I have seen from close quarters," she reveals.
