Poonam Pandey gets a big relief

12th March, 2015 10:27am     Bollywood      Comments
A Bengaluru court quashed a case filed against Poonam Pandey two years ago. This came as a big relief for the controversial model-turned-actress.

S Umesh, the petitioner, lodged a complaint alleging that Poonam Pandey hurt religious sentiments by posing semi-nude holding a photograph of Lord Vishnu with the face of Sachin Tendulkar for an Ad that's aired in 2012. Case was booked under Section 295A (Outrage religious feelings and insult to religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Court served summons to Poonam Pandey on November 7th, 2012 directing her to appear before it on February 26th, 2013. Cops failed to handover the summons to Poonam and hence she didn't appear before the court. The Bengaluru Police informed the Court that Poonam is untraceable. Upon hearing the argument of Poonam's Counsel, Judge dismissed the case on technical grounds and advised the complainant to obtain permission from competent authority before filing a private complaint against an individual.
