In a desperate bid to curb the piracy menace, the Tamil Film Producer's Council has taken a shocking decision to halt all the film release for three months. The producers are hoping that this move will shoot away the pirates out of their illicit business which has been wrecking the lives of those dependent on the film industry.

Of late, the Tamil film industry is undergoing a major revamp. Couple of days ago, the Producer's Council took a startling decision of chalking out a list of 10 holidays on which any star's film with a budget of 15 crores or more can be released. Within two days, the council members met again under the chairmanship of Kalaipuli S Thanu and took the decision to go for a strike without releasing any films.

Senior producer and TFPC President Kalaipuli S Thanu stated that the pirates will go out of business if there is no content for 3 months. He further said that almost all the theaters are equipped with digital projection system and that it has become very easy for pirates to copy the film. The Council will also hold talks with UFO and Qube to seek their help in protecting the content. As many as 50 plus films are vying for a release in the next 3 months and one wonders if this decision by the council will be implemented without any opposition from the exhibitors.
