AP Govt allotted Rs 300 crore only for world-class Andhra Pradesh capital

The allocation of Rs 300 crore for the world-class capital city in the Andhra Pradesh Budget presented by finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Thursday has disappointed people.

Though the Centre has promised to release Rs 1,000 crore for the capital by the month-end, the AP government did not project it in the Budget. The government has earmarked Rs 94 crore for payments to be made to farmers in for land they surrendered under the pooling scheme and Rs 200 crore for the capital development fund.

The finance minister’s speech copy mentioned financial allocation made in Budget was Rs 3,168 crore for municipal administration and urban development covering 97 municipalities and 13 municipal corporations including the Capital Region Development Authority.

Mr Ramakrishnudu clarified that the CRDA was asked to project Rs 1,000 crore in the Budget for the capital city in anticipation of grants from the Centre, but it chose to earmark Rs 300 crore.

“The state has to first allocate the money in the state Budget and spend it. Later, the Central government will reimburse it on submission of utilisation certificates. We have released Rs 90 crore for the LPS in the current financial year,” he said, adding the remaining has been allotted for next year.
