In a recent television interview, Jagapathi Babu made some shocking revelations on caste fanaticism.
“I am a Kamma by caste. But I do not attach any prominence to caste. What does it matter whether I am a Kamma, Kapu or a Reddy?” said Jagapathi Babu.
He was frank enough to admit that some fans admired him only because of the caste factor and then added that this caste fanaticism had created huge problems for him.
His elder daughter Meghana got married to her boyfriend Chad Bowen, an American with the blessings of her father. This was not to the liking of his fans belonging to his own caste and prior to the wedding, they tried to talk Jagapathi out of it.
With the help of a Minister hailing from their own community, they apparently tried to implicate Chad Bowen in a drugs case and have him jailed.
Jagapathi then issued them a stern warning forcing them to beat a hasty retreat. Narrating the above episode, Jagapathi says he does not need fans on the basis of caste and for that matter, he does not need any kinds of fans at all.
