Kapoor And Sons movie did decent business on the opening day at the Indian Box Office. The film opened to an occupancy of 35% in the morning shows, which is pretty good.

Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan starrer opened to rave reviews which helped the increase of footfalls in the theatres during the evening and night shows.

Directed by Shakun Batra under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film was released in 1500 screens in India with 900 prints. Everything worked in the favor of this Fox Star Studio presented movie-no big releases last week, solo release this week, good reviews, viewers loved the film, decent opening, great word of mouth promotion and so on.

The star cast too promoted this film throughout the country from Bangalore, Jaipur, Chandigarh to Delhi, most popular metropolitan cities were covered which helped the movie garner good opening.

Kapoor And Sons makers adopted huge marketing strategies and that showed in the morning shows' occupancy in metropolitan cities, sadly the same was not observed in single screen theaters. The film did its best in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai and Kolkata.

The positive reviews helped it further and the occupancy increased over the evening and night shows to a whopping 60%. Due to positive word of mouth, the film is expected to do even better over the weekend. In Pakistan, the film has done even better, has taken a bumper start there and the business is said to pick up even more. Taran Adarsh reported the opening day collection, "#KapoorAndSons picked up at metros/urban centres post-noon. Fri ₹ 6.85 cr. India biz."

The film has beaten the opening day record of Wazir, Jai Gangaajal and Neerja but failed to beat the record of Ghayal Once Again.
