Chiranjeevi's 150th Is A Stolen Script?

12th May, 2015 11:02am     Tollywood      Comments
Plagiarism allegations are not new to Tollywood. However, copying a poster or lifting a sequence from a Hollywood film is least concerned here, but when a script from any other writer is stolen, then our "associations" take it seriously. Its just a day back that Megastar Chiranjeevi's 150th film is announced and here comes the shocking allegation.

A writer named Vasu Dev Varma is now alleging, not directly but through a media house, that his script "Okka Adugu" written for Krishnam Raju and Prabhas is stolen by BVS Ravi. A report mentioned that USA returned Vasu Dev Varma is working with writer Gopi Mohan to enhance his original version of the film and suspects that Gopi Mohan might have shared the central-plot of his flick with BVS Ravi, as the two are good friends. It is alleged that Ravi made few changes to central plot, added couple of characters and narrated the same to Megastar and impressed him big time.

The storyline happens to be this-

Chiranjeevi plays two roles in the movie, one that of a freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and another that of Auto Johnny. The film is all about Auto Johnny changing from a careless man to responsible citizen with Uyyalawada coming in flashes and guiding him.

Writer Vasu Dev Varma is heard alleging that his script was registered with Telugu Writers Association and All India Writers Association and will proceed legally.

What's industry saying about this?

Many young writers feel that whenever they narrate a story to any big writer, those biggies will copy it. But truth is that a coin has both sides. The above plot is near or less a Rang De Basanti or Shankardada MBBS. In both the films, freedom fighters come in flashes and guide the leading hero. What's big deal in this central plot in that case?
