Aamir Khan/Raj Kumar Hirani's latest offing PK is minting money at Box Office like never before in the history of Indian Cinema. Setting cash registers ringing at the ticket windows, the satirical film has grossed Rs 516 Crore (including music and video rights) so far. According to trade analysts, the movie is very close to India's highest grosser Dhoom 3 (Rs 542 Crore). Since PK is just two week old and still has a lot of scope, it is almost certain that it's going to beat Dhoom 3 record.
Box office estimates that PK's present earnings in India is pegged at Rs 278 Crore and International Collections is at Rs 122 Crore. , bringing the overall collections to Rs 400 Crore.
Including music and video rights, the movie said to have grossed Rs 516 Crore ($82 million). This is not all. Now trade pundits are betting high on PK stating that Aamir's PK would touch the $100 million milestone i.e., staggering Rs 630 Crore.
This would be the first Indian film in 21st century expected to stagger across the line. Thanks to spree of controversies engulfed the film right from its first look to post-release controversies. PK's records are not just confined to India. PK is expected to cross the $9M mark by the end of its third weekend in theaters in North America, making it the highest-grossing foreign language film in North America in 2014 where Hindi speakers are less thean 1% of population.
PK has grossed more in North America than in both the UK and UAE combinedm, apparently the continent has never seen box office sales this strong for a Bollywood movie.
