Whenever a film releases on every Friday, a handful of critics who represent numerous film portals and news papers publish their reviews. Of late, there has been a growing dissent over these reviews from the film fraternity. Recently, popular filmmakers Trivikram Srinivas and Suhasini Maniratnam expressed their contempt for film reviews and critics in particular.
Joining these stalwarts now is none other than the Telugu Film Producer's Council itself. Apparently, the TFPC has decided to request all the media houses to stop publishing reviews and even live updates. The reason behind this decision is that most films are losing out a lot of money if a film gets a bad review.
Producers' unhappiness over critics and Friday reviews is not a recent phenomenon and several filmmakers have been occasionally expressing their stern views against publishing reviews as soon as the first show ends. We will have to wait and see whether media houses will respect the council's request or continue with their freedom of speech.
