Vijay TV Awards has always been considered as one of the prestigious events participated by top stars of Tamil Cinema. This year's Awards Ceremony, however, draw severe criticism from stars, film buffs and general public. What could be the reason?

1) Ilayaraja walked out of the venue: Usually, Maestro doesn't attend Award functions. But, The organisers some how managed to convince him and he promised to be at the event only for 1 hour to receive 'Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan' honour. But, Ilayaraja was upset when he came to know no one from Sivaji Ganesan's family was present and left the venue without accepting the award.

2) Hero Sivakarthikeyan openly criticised the Organisers - 'This event will last till early morning  2 am, but they don't even provide us water. Bring tomoto rice and tamarind rice from next year'.

3) Host Divya Darshini irritates with too much taking and Director KS Ravikumar did make her realize her mistake. When Divya asked 'How are you, Sir', KS Ravikumar shouted 'I am good'. Then, Divya reminded him about the mic and the filmmaker shot back 'forgot the mic as you are the one who can be heard'.

4) Majority of Awards have gone to the films for which Vijay TV acquired Satellite Rights: Jigarthanda, Cuckoo and Kaaviya Thalaivan.   

5) Big Stars such as Rajinikanth, Vijay and Suriya skipped the event & None of the dance performances entertained the viewers.

Kamal Haasan-Shruti Haasan's dance & their selfie act is the highlight of this year's Vijay TV Awards.
