After proving her mettle as an action heroine in Lucy, Scarlett Johansson has given her nod to play the role of a cyber-crime fighting cyborg in Ghost in the Shell according to a report by Variety.
Ghost in the Shell is a live action adaptation of the Japanese anime and manga series which follows the story of the strong willed cop Major Motoko Kusanagi. Scarlett Johansson is set to play the role of this Japanese female cyborg cop who fights cyber-crime as a member of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission.
The project is being commissioned by DreamWorks and will be directed by Rupert Sanders. Variety also reported that Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks' principal partner is a huge fan of the series and is keen to get the project started. The film is being produced by Avi Arad and Steven Paul while the script is being penned by Bill Wheeler.
After her power packed performances in Avengers, Lucy and Her, Scarlett's role as a cyborg is something the audience will definitely look forward to.
