Premam has shattered all the box office records of Malayalam film industry and has set a new benchmark. The film is still running in big centers across Kerala. Premam is regarded as one of the best ever films made by Malayalam film industry but it was snubbed by the jury of state awards. Everyone is shocked at Premam being snubbed by the award committee.
Jury has been on the receiving end of criticism for snubbing Premam and the jury chairman Mr. Mohan responded about the issue. He says that Premam doesn't match up to the standards of the State Awards as its making was not perfect. He agreed that Premam was a good entertainer but according to him there are some criteria to consider during the selection process of the State Awards to which Premam doesn't live up to.
The Jury Chairman went on to say on the record that Alphonse Puthren's lazy attitude towards filmmaking was evident in Premam. He said that Alphonse's previous film Neram was a perfect film. Premam was not a strong contender during the selection process of prestigious award under any category as per Mohan. Premam may not have won State Awards but it has won the hearts of film lovers across the nation, say 'Premam' admirers.
