Nara Rohit has created a unique name for himself by doing films with different subjects. His latest offering is Rowdy Fellow which is directed by lyricist turned director Krishna Chaitanya. This film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story

Rowdy fellow is a movie between a rich spoilt brat and a dreaded politician.Rana Pratap (Nara Rohit) is a rich spoilt brat who goes to explicit lengths to satisfy his ego. One fine day, he gets into a brawl with an cop (Ahuti Prasad) and joins the police department just to teach him a lesson. He gets himself posted to a place called Kolleru in Eluru district.

Once he lands there, he comes to know that the entire area is ruled by a dreaded politician called Durga Prasad (Rao Ramesh). As time passes by, Rana also realizes that the entire village is in neck deep problems posed by him. Rest of the story is as to how Rana goes against the mighty Durga Prasad and destroys his empire.

Performance

Plus Points

Rowdy Fellow is a complete Nara Rohit film right from the word go. It is his dynamic screen presence which steals the show. Be it his dialogue delivery or his power packed performance, Rohit has nailed it completely. He looks apt in the role of an arrogant police officer and his performance during the climax is outstanding.

One more actor who is worth a special mention is Rao Ramesh. He has given a seasoned performance and is a perfect fit in his negative role. Confrontation scenes between him and Nara Rohit during the climax have been designed supremely well. Posani Krishna Murali and Praveen are pretty good in their respective roles. The way the film has been narrated with a single point agenda is also good. First half of the film moves quite swiftly.

Minus Points

Even though the screenplay is quite good, pace of the film is a bit slow. The movie runs mostly on a serious note and does not have the so called commercial aspects. Visakha Singh’s track has no importance and could have been completely eliminated. Story in the second half drifts a bit and a song breaks out which only spoils the mood of the film.

Rohit’s background and the way he goes about using his power have not been justified. As said earlier, the story has single point agenda which also makes the film quite predictable.

Technical

Rowdy Fellow is technically a brilliant film. Camerawork is outstanding and lifts the film to another level. The way the rural set up has been showcased is quite good. As in every Nara Rohit film, dialogues are top notch. They have been written with a lot of depth and especially the ones in the climax are captivating. Music of the film is pretty good, but it is the background score which is a huge plus for the film.

Rowdy Fellow is a screenplay based film and runs completely on the directors vision. Debutante Krishna Chaitanya has managed to do a decent job with his debut film. His writing skills are excellent, but even he goes the commercial way and tries to force in many unwanted aspects which spoil the flow of the film.

Analysis

Final Word

On the whole, Rowdy Fellow showcases Nara Rohit’s tremendous growth as an actor. Even this film is different as his previous flicks and has something unique about it. The rustic set up, Nara Rohit and Rao Ramesh’s tremendous performance are basic plus points. On the flip side, a slightly offtrack second half and slow pace makes this film just an ok watch.
