New Delhi: Intelligence Bureau (IB) on Sunday warned of possible terror attacks in Delhi and claimed that 10 Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who entered Gujarat on Friday are believed to be hiding in the national capital.
Sources said, Pakistan's National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasir Khan Janjua first shared the leads with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval that 10 terrorists have entered India. He (Janjua) also informed that these terrorists are from Lashkar-E-Taiba and Jaish-E-Muhammad terror outfits and their aim is to carry out terror strikes in Gujarat and other parts of India.
While working on the leads, the Indian security agencies got information that the terrorists managed to infiltrate Delhi. "We have information that the terrorists might target market places and malls," Delhi police sources said.
"Delhi is on high alert and we have started massive combing operations across various locations," he added.
All the vital installations around India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, railway stations were put on high alert.
Top officers of Delhi police and other security agencies held a meeting to chalk out an elaborate security ring to prevent any untoward incidents.
On Saturday, Western Army Commander Lt Gen K J Singh said that there are some "disturbing" inputs about a terror attack in India aimed at creating the "maximum media impact" during the Shivratri festival and ongoing Parliament session.
