The Central Government has decided to included the new AP State Capital Amaravati in Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
Union Minister for Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu said that State Government would send prop0osals after geographical demarcation of the upcoming capital city. He said that 30 cities and towns from the State have been selected under the scheme including Kavali and Srikalahasti.
The AMRUT scheme aims at providing water supply and sewerage connections to all urban households besides enabling water supply as per the norms of 135 litres per capita per day. He said the government has approved the Action Plan of the state for enhancing water supply in 26 cities and towns in the State besides developing green open spaces and parks at a cost of Rs.663.crore. The Ministry will provide 50 per cent assistance of the entire cost and Rs.66 core would be released shortly, said Venkaiah Naidu.
