The Telangana State Government will earmark ten per cent of the total houses constructed under Government housing schemes for policemen. This apart it will also allot house sites in municipalities across the state to sub inspector and inspector level officials.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao made this announcement during the Police Commemoration Day function held at Goshamahal Stadium on Wednesday. He also said that the Government will pay 30 per cent of the basic salary as pollution allowance to the traffic policemen.
He also informed that the uniform allowance for the policemen has been increased from Rs.3, 500 to Rs. 7,500 and complete waiver of registration fee for house sites.
The Chief Minister asked the policemen to be a partner in the growth of the State. “Police should ensure that peace prevails. The Government is with the police and at the same time we expect them to be good to the public and support the Government in achieving its goals,’’ Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao said.
Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Director General of Police Anurag Sharma also spoke. Later, the Chief Minister accompanied by the Home Minister and the DGP laid wreath at the martyr’s memorial.
