The Bhainsa Rural police on Wednesday arrested Mekala Rajender(24) for attempting to rob the Kubeer branch of Deccan Grameen Bank the previous evening. The accused got the idea after watching on TV the news of a recent bank robbery in Hyderabad which saw the culprits decamping with Rs. 32 lakh.

Presenting the accused before the media, Bhainsa Rural CI A. Mahesh said Rajender thought that by robbing the bank he could pay off his debts. He entered the premises of the bank in the evening and tried to break in with the help of jack and iron rod but fled the scene after neighbours raised an alarm.

The accused was arrested in the morning while moving under suspicious circumstances.
