BENGALURU: A day after the Church Street blast, a Twitter handle — @LatestAbdul — went berserk claiming responsibility for the blast, warning of more blasts in the next two days and even challenged Bengaluru Police to try and catch him/her.

Bengaluru Police was quick to respond on the same platform: "BCP is aware about the tweets of @LatestAbdul. They are being examined, there is NO need to be alarmed. Please do not pay heed to rumours."

The handler of the account had tweeted to several handles, including that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Rajnath Singh, and a few news channels, issuing threats and abuses. One of the tweets also abused the cops in Hindi.

The series of tweets in this connection also saw supporters for police asking the person behind it to not underestimate our cops.

Additional commissioner (law and order) Alok Kumar tweeted: "Situation in Bangalore City is peaceful. Some elements spreading rumours. Don't pay heed to rumours, in case of anything suspicious call 100."

Even Twitter acted quickly and suspended @LatestAbdu's account on the site.
