Rahul Gandhi to hold rally in Seelampur constituency
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will hold a mega rally at Shastri Park in Seelampur constituency today.
The rally is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm, where senior Congress leaders including Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, Election Campaign Committee chief Ajay Maken and other candidates will participate.
Rahul Gandhi’s aim is to woo Muslims voters who abandoned the Congress party and have shifted their support base to the Aam Aadmi Party. Then there are lower middle class and poorer sections of the society who now look to AAP or BJP. Gandhi’s attempt will be to bring them back into the Congress fold.
In 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Congress performed miserably with only 8 seats, whereas the AAP won 28 seats and BJP-SAD bagged 32 seats.
This time Congress hopes to make a comeback, even as most opinion polls predict doom for the party. Delhi will be voting on February 7 and counting will take place three days later.
