Land Acquisition: AP to acquire 16,000 hectares of forest land near CRDA

The AP government, in the backdrop of delay in land pooling for the CRDA, to meet the immediate needs to set up temporary structures for the industries, government buildings, Educational Institutions in the Capital has plans to further de-notify around 16,000 hectares of forest land in Krishna district.

Babu Ahmed, Krishna District Collector has directed forest and revenue officials to prepare routes and maps to the forest area. After video graphing and geo-tagging the maps, the entire data will be uploaded on to the website. In the wake of the delay in acquiring lands from farmers and the thrust of the Singapore, Japanese firms’ who believe delay of every day would cost them loss in thousands of dollars, the move has been made.

Representatives of Singapore and Japanese government and industries in a recent meeting with the AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu raised the issue and urged him to ensure quicker land custody to meet the immediate tasks of land scraping and furthering development activities.

In case of delay in getting farmers lands, the CM had assured that the forest and revenue lands will be pressed to move machinery and equipment besides material to take up the works in the CRDA on a war footing.

The District Administration has de-notified already 5,000 hectares of forest land. The rest of the forest area in the districts has to be de-notified. To speed up the works along with the new Commissioner of CRDA etc, Government has already appointed a liaison officer.
